Documented experience using postmortem human brain tissue with each 1) method and 2) tissue preparation (e.g, frozen) proposed.

Required Documentation

• Power analysis supporting the amount of tissue and cohort size requested.
• Documentation supporting the research team's success with the proposed method(s) and tissue preparation(s) (e.g., RNA Sequencing with frozen tissue) of postmortem human brain tissue.

Has not completed an experimental pilot study testing the reagents, approaches and analyses planned for the full study.

and/or

Needs to generate data for a power analysis.

No experience using their proposed methods with postmortem human tissue.

A pilot study that requires disease-enriched targets (e.g., beta-amyloid) to validate a methodological approach or reagent (e.g., anti-beta-amyloid antibody) that has been previously successful in experimental models.

Since disease-enriched targets are unlikely (or unknown) to be present in subjects flagged as Pilot Study, investigators can request subjects with the relevant pathology/diagnosis (e.g., Alzheimer's disease).
